The Vancouver Delphi Developers Association
is pleased to present Dejan Cvetkovic, Principle Technology Specialist
for Microsoft Canada. Dejan Cvetkovic graduated from the Faculty of Electrical
Engineering in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in April 1991. He joined Microsoft

involved in system architecture on distributed application development
projects. These projects were based on Microsoft Middle-tier products
interoperating with legacy systems. In January 1999, Dejan shifted his
focus to systems engineering and took the role of Technology Specialist

Dejan's major customer is the Government of British Columbia.
What is
.NET?
The Microsoft .NET framework is a platform for building, deploying and
running Web Servers and applications. It provides a highly productive,
standards-based, multi-language environment for integrating existing applications
with next-generation applications and services as well as the agility
to solve the challenges of deployment and operation of Internet-scale
applications.
Presentation
Outline:
-Overview of the .NET Vision and Framework:
The Common Language Specification is a set of constructs that serves as
a guide for library writers and compiler writers. It allows libraries
to be fully usable from any language supporting the CLS, and for these
languages to integrate with each other.
-VisualStudio.NET and its Languages:
Dejan will show live examples of building web services using VisualStudio.NET,
used for building web services in a cross language development environment.
He will also demonstrate how to build a sample web application using web
services and ASP.NET using C# and VB.NET. It is a business decision which
development tool is used. You have a choice, depending on your environment,
skill set and the type of services being built.
-The Future of .Net Including VS.Net,
Servers and Services: Rapid application development environment is
again the goal of Visual Studio.NET. Learn how to quickly develop a business
solution and let the .NET framework provide the infrastructure and plumbing
required for the integration.
