| January 2001 Meeting
Happy New Year Delphi Developers! The VDDA has lots of cool things planned for this year and we hope that you will join us as we showcase all the latest developments in the Delphi Community. The next VDDA meeting is scheduled for January 31, 2001, between 6pm-8pm. Michael Li, President of the Vancouver Delphi Developers Association will be giving a preview and demonstration of Kylix, Borland's high performance Rapid Application Development Tool for Linux. Borland will also be hosting the official Kylix launch party in NYC so come see the local launch of a very familiar tool in a new platform. Kylix is Borland's Linux development tool that combines the Rapid Application Development benefits of visual component based design, with the power of an optimizing native code compiler. Kylix will finally provide the tools for the Linux Development Community and millions of other developers on Windows to develop for Linux. Kylix is a component based development environment for two-way visual development of user interface (GUI), Internet, database and server applications. Kylix will be powered by a new high-speed native Delphi/C/C++ compiler and debugger for Linux, and will implement a native Linux and cross platform version of the Borland VCL architecture called CLX. CLX is designed to rapidly speed native Linux application development and simplify the porting of Delphi and C++Builder applications between Windows® and Linux operating systems. For more information on Kylix please see the Borland website at: http://www.borland.com/kylix.
