September 1998 Meeting

DATE: Tuesday, September 8, 1998

TIME: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

TOPIC: What's New in Delphi 4

As per my last email, we will be skipping the August meeting due to the lower turnout during the summer months. This will give everyone a chance to fully enjoy their summer and also give us a chance to review other information that we will be receiving from the BORLAND US Conference. Yours truly and crew will be presenting as well as exhibiting at this annual event. For more info about the conference, see check the Borland Website. As for the next meeting, the focus will be What’s new in Delphi 4. Delphi 4 is the continuation of Borland’s enterprise-wide vision for Delphi. In this release, Borland has incorporated several new concepts that assist programmers in producing their applications. New items such as enhanced project management utilities will be discussed and demonstrated. New language and database enhancements will also be reviewed in detail. This session will also discuss new enhancements to Borland’s multi-tier functionality that was introduced in Delphi 3. Demo applications will be shown that illustrates the new functionality of Delphi 4.

Ensemble Systems Inc. specializes in Object Oriented Software Development. Ensemble staff has been working with object technology for four years, and has acted as architects and designers for both large (greater than $100 million) and small (less than $100,000) systems using object oriented techniques. Ensemble's object oriented expertise can provide a critical resource for the creation of reusable software components on which future applications can be constructed.

This latest version of Delphi is more a series of refinements than a radical turn in a new direction. Developers will find this new version to be the easiest to use and powerful version of Delphi yet. This session will focus on these new enhancements to the language, demonstrating their advantages to Delphi programmers.
