SDN 2009 - June 26 2009
On Monday, March 30th we are organizing the first Software Development Event this year.
But what sessions are on the schedule? In the field of architecture, something that we all face is Pieter de Bruin us see how the Application Architecture Guide Microsoft works. Since architecture is not Microsoft specific, this is an interesting session for all visitors. The same applies to the session of Dennis Doomen we show how design patterns in practice use. This time we have two sessions on Adobe products. How to Klaasjan Tukker us show how Flash works Catalyst. In the field of. NET is also a lot of experience. Here is a track with sessions on the test making software and tools we have it. SharePoint also is not beaten within the Information Worker section are several sessions on this topic.
For Delphi developers among us, there are obviously a number of sessions. Daniel Wischnewski will do two sessions. His first session is about finding the best route between two points, the second is about how to work with the taskbar in Windows API 7. Both sessions are also useful for Delphi developers. Of course there are also sessions on the areas of DotNetNuke and Core Systems. For DotNetNuke comes from Spain Vicenç Masanas two strong sessions do. The Core Systems lovers are among sessions on application security and non-stop architecture.
All in all a lot of good sessions and more than enough for everyone to learn.
Michael Li, InfoCan Management's Chief Technology Officer, will be presenting the following sessions:

There are plenty of reasons to move to .NET and equally as many for staying with Win32. This session will focus on 10 specific techniques that you can employ in your Win32 development today to minimize the migration impact when and should you decide to move to .NET. The techniques covered in this session are Best Practices that the speaker accumulated since 2003 while helping customers making the transition to .NET from Win32 development. Tracks: DE, NE
SDN background information
The Software Development Network (SDN) is a User Group of Dutch professional software developers. Our aim is to better the skills and to further the interests of professional software developers. Therefore the group is run professionally but on a strictly non-profit basis. SDN is run by 15 people who are all volunteers. The day-to-day business is run by an external secretarial office.
There are two kinds of memberships, a “personal” and a “company” membership. The difference between these two is basically that the company membership allows extra persons at all events and our Web Site. SDN now has over 700 members and, since over 70% of the members are company members, SDN effectively represents well over 1500 developers!
Being a professional organization, the membership fee is relatively high: 195 Euro’s per annum for a personal membership and 295 Euro’s for a company membership. Experience has shown that members appreciate the quality offered, and this approach has led to almost all SDN members being professional developers.
SDN is divided into sections. Each section is specifically aimed at a certain group developers. The main sections are: .NET, DotNetNuke, Usability, Information Worker, Delphi, Architecture and Database technologies. We also have two smaller sections for members who work with Visual FoxPro and Visual Objects.
Besides our annual SDN Conference (SDC), SDN organizes many other things. Regular meetings are held four times a year in a seminar-like approach, these meetings are called SDN Event (SDE). On several occasions we have invited foreign speakers for these meetings.
Our quarterly magazine is written in Dutch. However, we often publish English articles as well. We welcome articles you think would be of interest to our members. It is also possible to advertise in our magazine.
In addition, SDN operates a Web Site including (closed) forums. About 80% of the members regularly visit the Web Site. We encourage 3rd party vendors to keep us informed about product announcements, patches, demos etc. for our news section.
