InfoCan delivers ASP.NET Security Best Practices Masterclass hosted by The Developers Group in London, England!

Michael Li of InfoCan Management has been invited by The Developers Group in London, England to hold a Masterclass on ASP.NET Security Best Practices in October 2005. Topics covered will include input validation, HTML-encoding, vulnerabilities with ASP.NET forms authentication and cookies management, state management with full encryption, DPAPI and password encryption, and more! The techniques that will be shown during this session are applicable to all web development projects regardless of platform and languages. Code examples will be provided in both C# and Delphi.NET.

ASP.NET Security Best Practices Masterclass

This session will focus on countermeasures against common threats and best practices in creating secured ASP.NET and/or web applications. The session will be divided into two parts.

Part 1
We will begin by walking through a series of hands-on illustrations to showcase some of the most common threats and attacks on web applications. Specific topics will include:

Types of threats

      •  Host
      •  Application
Threats against the application
      •  SQL injection
      •  Cross-site scripting
      •  Input tampering
      •  Session hijacking
Threat modeling
      •  Threat Modeling Process
      •  STRIKE Model
      •  DREAD Model

Part 2
Once we have examined some possible vulnerability, we will then focus on the various strategies and countermeasures to properly protect our applications from becoming another statistic. Topics will include:
