InfoCan Management is starting our conference circuit this year in
beautiful Singapore by attending the SDA.NET Conference 2005. Held from
May 24 to May 27, this 4-day event features speakers from around the
world ( America , Europe and Asia ) presenting topics on the latest
development in .NET and issues faced in the region. The conference covers
all the essentials of .NET. It focuses not only on the technicalities,
but also applications in various industries.
InfoCan Management's Chief Technology Officer, Michael Li , has been
invited to speak at this conference on the following topics:
What is New and Migration to Delphi
2005 (Power Workshop)
This workshop concentrates on the latest
features introduced in Delphi 2005:
New
IDE features
Refactoring
New
database features
ASP
Deployment support
Unit
Testing
Data
Remoting
ECO
( Enterprise Core Object) II
J2EE
and .NET integration
And Migration to Delphi 2005:
Should
I upgrade to Delphi 2005?
What
are the new features?
Should
I port my Delphi applications to C# instead?
.NET
is about 12-18 months away for me, what can I do today to minimise the
transition later?
Architectural
considerations
.NET and Win32 inter-operability
Compatibility issues
VCL vs. VCL.NET
BDE/dbExpress
to ADO.NET/BDP
DataSnap to .NET Remoting
Web development transition
Borland Development Studio vs. Visual Studio
Transition planning and techniques
Boundaries and constraints
ASP.NET Caching and Performance
Tuning (Regular Session)
Performance is crucial to all software
applications. Users easily
become impatient when forced to wait while an application processes
their requests. For Web developers, they must pay special attention
to performance as they can also be contending with limited bandwidth
and traffic load. This session will showcase the built-in performance
optimization mechanism; learn how declarative and programmatic caching
can improve performance, working with Application Center and other tools
to monitor and measure performance, caching and user controls, improve
data access and other optimization best practices.
Introduction to Compact & Mobile
Framework (Regular Session)
As for .NET Framework v1.1, ASP.NET
Mobile Controls natively support over 200+ devices ranging from cell
phones, PDAs to 2-way pagers from a single mobile web form. This
session will provide an overview on the similarity and differences
between ASP.NET Compact and Mobile Framework and the magic behind
adaptive rendering. The presentation
will evolve an application by employing a cross section of the mobile
controls in order to demonstrate the rich component set that come with
the Framework. You will also learn about best practices
on how to develop for multiple devices such as tabletPC, PocketPC, and
mobile phones. Each device brings on a separate set of challenges – different
form factor, computing power, memory constraints, security and more. Code
examples for this talk will be provided in C#.
ALM: Quest for the perfect
Requirements (Regular Session)
If you are in the business of
building applications, you will appreciate the importance of identifying
the proper requirements before coding. The
cost of not doing so can result in complete failure of the project. This
session will showcase how Borland® CaliberRM,™ can help you manage
requirements on an enterprise level, facilitate collaboration, conduct
impact analysis before making any changes, and management of changing
requirements. ALM best practices will be demonstrated to show
you how to take control of your project. If you have ever suffered
the pain of bad specification or lack of it, you don't want to miss
this session. It will change the way you think about project management
and application development!
